Secrets of the Fortress 'The Law' Page 9

Scorpion swerved her hair to the side, once again. She had not slept since the previous day. Her anticipation was getting over her. She was eager. She had never been to a city, not to talk of seeing what it looks like. She thought of the handsome guys that they said lived in the city. And the beautiful ladies. She knew the guys would like her, her long hair and eyelashes was something they wouldn't resist. But she knew she was going there for something else. Something Moore important than guys. She whipped her hair again as a sharp point appeared at the tip and stung the mirror. Blood flowed down. She chuckled.

Death wish stood over the toilet wash hand basin. She had climbed the tub so that she would be able to see herself in the mirror. Her height had been her most awful disadvantage. She knew she would play well. After they set the plan into motion. Even though they had not yet discussed about anything, she knew it was going to be something that would favor her. She jumped down and picked an old toothbrush. Her hand gripped it tight and it turned to ashes that escaped from her grip.

Panthera stepped out of her dungeon. That was where she slept. Or maybe that was what she decided to call it. It resembled nothing like a room. Everywhere was made of bones. No one knew if they were human or animal bones, since no one attempted to visit her. She was glad that she hadn't been told to use her powers during the battle. She would have destroyed everything that came in her way. Her powers were so disastrous. She passed through the dungeon wall to the outer environment. It was busy as usual and no one paid attention to her. She smiled.

Grimace had spent the night both his bow and arrow. He had been training and was still not exhausted. He wanted to be perfect with his target. He needed it. He shot at a spot on a tree once again and it stuck there. He didn't bother to retrieve his arrow as he walked back to his house. He was tired.

Grain seeker couldn't go out looking for grain. He only had to wait. Wait for them to call him for the final decision. He just sat there.

Evalle had gathered them all together. It was time to show the people what they were truly made of. They sat down to plan. Evalle dropped a big paper on her laps. She shouted aloud. "Death Wish, you will be a student. Starting Class one of junior high school."

Death wish opened her mouth,. She knew what that meant. Terrible. She was going to stay with little children for a day.

Evalle continued. "Grain seeker. You will be there as a farmer. But not too local. Or instead, you will be a beggar. That one suits you pretty well."

  He frowned. They all laughed.

"Scorpion, you are to work at the mall. You will be attending to customers."

She smiled. At least she would find suitable guys.

"Natalie. You are going to work in the Trade Center. The site of the destruction. You will be selling petty goods."

Natalie frowned. She hated to sell. It disgusted her.

"Grimace, you will watch over Natalie. You are to act as her fiancé."

There was a wide grin on his face. He obviously liked it.

"Panthera, you will have to stick with Jasper. Both of you will have to go to the city mall, the place where Scorpion would be working."

They both smiled. Jasper wished it was Natalie that was chosen to go with him.

"And I will be on top of the trade center. It's just for few hours. Then everything will be over. We will accuse the evil sorcerers."

"So, what are we going to do when we get to our posts?" Scorpion asked.

"I have already arranged for everything. Scorpion, you will poison your customers against the evil sorcerers. You do know how to do that. Don't you?"

Scorpion nodded happily. It was an easy task.

"Death wish. Since you are in a class of people that looks like you, kill them all and spread death round that school. It's revenge time."

Death wish smile. She was going to make them pay dearly for taking her brother.

"Jasper and Panthera. You are to eliminate all the people of high ranks in the mall. It's necessary."

  They smiled again.

"Grimace and Natalie, stick together. Natalie will cause darkness to arise. And Grimace would shoot anyone and everyone."

"After everywhere is in chaos. You will all converge at the spot where the portal would drop us in few hours. While I, will destroy the World Trade Center." Darkness Arises

"Austin would predict the future. He already said we would conquer. We have to believe him."

"Buster, you have to remain at the mouth of the portal and kill anyone that comes close. Even if they don't know that there's anything there because you will be wearing your invisibility ring."

  He nodded.

Evalle opened the portal and they all jumped in. It was going to be another long and boring journey to the city if they do not chat. Evalle decided to make the most of it. She had instructed the others to continue with their training but could return to normal feeding. Since everyone had newly discovered powers. They could use the rest of the day to train for the final battle that would be coming up. It would give them the chance to be stronger and better. They were not ready to lose anyone of their people.

Evalle broke the silence. "So, when we get there, we will do our thing quickly and get out. That's what will happen. And before I forget, after every killing and during the killings, we would be on our invisibility rings. After which we would inscribe the names of the evil sorcerers everywhere we kill. Operation starts by noon. Austin will have to stick with me or remain at the mouth of the portal. I don't think he can really fight."

Austin's face brightened up. He smiled. They laughed.

"I've changed my mind. Austin will be the teacher in Death wish's school. And Death wish, your name will be Lilian Evergreen."

  CHAPTER 16

Evalle and the others had gone to their posts. Most of them were fascinated by how well the outer city resembled theirs but there were larger and taller houses, making it more beautiful. Scorpion had gone to the mall. She was surprised that everything had been arranged for her, just as Evalle had said. She acknowledged the fact that Evalle was a goddess and she would have her things anyway she wanted. Scorpion was selling ladies' wears. She took some, herself. So that she could have new clothes on her return to magic city. Sorcerers' village. It was very easy talking the ladies into hating people with black magic. She had put her venom into a perfume and sprayed it all over her body. No one could refuse anything she told them.

Panthera and Jasper stood there. Watching how Scorpion did her work. It didn't even make her sweat. She did it easily. Jasper looked at Panther a. She was beautiful. More beautiful than Natalie. Her ocean blue eyes and blonde hair made her unique. They had already gotten stares from hundreds of passersby. He noticed the vibes she was giving him, and it sent shivers down his spine. She was magnificent. Panthera reminded him that their job was not to watch Scorpion, but to kill the bosses. They immediately moved to the upper floors of the mall after slipping on their invisibility rings.

Death wish sat on the chair. Her class was a boring one. All the children were trying to talk to her, but she didn't want to talk back. She didn't want to feel sorry for them in few minutes when she would be slaughtering them. She looked at Austin. He fit perfectly as a teacher. He wore a wide grin on his face while he taught and occasionally gave her a wink. She smiled. She wanted the class to be over immediately. Finally, Austin ended the class and the operation began. He closed the doors and windows and left the classroom with Death wish and the children in it. Death wish began to touch the woods and the children watched in terror as they turned to ashes. The first child she touched, melted. She did the same to the others, and very soon, the class was filled with water.

Grimace and Natalie stood there. There was no shop for them, nor stall. It was annoying. They later found an empty office where they decided to stay. Evalle had provided them with the goods they were to sell. Mostly jewelries. Grimace gave Natalie a hug and pecked her on the cheeks. It was weird but they had to do th
eir jobs. Selling was boring. The place was truly occupied with hundreds of people. People that were not going to see the latter part of the day. Natalie and Grimace slipped on their on visibility rings and came out. In few seconds, the whole crowd was pitch black. People ran helter skelter. Arrows from now her was hitting them and most of them fell.

Grain seeker smiled as he sought for grain on the farm. There was nothing he could do here, than to enjoy the moment. He had a little secret. He was not searching for grain. Since he was little, about three years old, he used his hands to pick whatever he found on the floor. Most times, he found some beautiful stones and placed them in a can. He awoke in the middle of the night and swallowed the stones. He went back to bed. When he woke up later in the morning, he found out that the stones were gone. Then he became Grain Seeker. Searching for the beautiful stones.

Evalle was enjoying the view. The names of the evil sorcerers were sprawled everywhere, in every corner, by unknown hands. She knew it was her turn. The others would have gotten back to the floor of the portal. She made a heavy wind blow as she pushed the tower. The second one was beside it. It fell.

  * * *

The human powerless world had come to beg them for help. But it was not going as they planned.

Evalle was terrified. Her dream startled her. Apart from it being a surprise that the dark sorcerers have not retaliated, her dream seemed to real to be just a dream. She knew her dream bed had told her something. If the evil sorcerers truly come for war, the good ones would never win. The evil comes have no life so they will never die. Only her and Emily could kill them. They were to many, and Emily had been poisoned by them. Evalle knew she had to set on the journey. She still remembered the place.

When Kujoo was still alive, there had been nothing like evil sorcerers. Something had happened before his death. Something had fuelled the birth of the evil ones. That one and only thing would be the cause of their death.

Evalle hung her compass on her neck and whispered. "Kujoo's territory." The portal opened and the compass began to glow. She immediately jumped in. The feeling of nausea came over her but she tried her best to push it down.

The journey was longer than she imagined it would be. She felt like turning back when she saw the mouth of the portal. It was the same place that her and Emily had passed through. It seemed other things had also passed through. It looked expanded. Evalle walked in.

It was not a really big place and it took Evalle little time to find a small house, the same type she saw in her dream. It was different from the one they found Kujoo in. Goose bumps rose on her skin as she entered.

She got into the house and dropped her small bag on a table. She moved swiftly from room to room. Her mouth gaped as she saw something in the last room. It was glowing. Evalle studied it carefully. It looked like a portal. Like the one she travelled across the world in. Beside it was something she didn't understand. Something she had never seen before. She didn't want to enter the portal. She didn't know where it would lead her to. She knew she had to do something. But she wasn't sure.

Evalle remembered that they had broken through the barrier that Kujoo created. Since they broke the rough, the evil creatures came out the hole, that explains why out looked expanded. She believed that Kujoo and his servant had created the portal. She needed to destroy the other magic source beside it. That was what was giving them immortality. She didn't know how she could do it. She could not contact the others. It may be too late.

Evalle closed her eyes and focused. She knew that was the only thing that could get her through it. The portal exploded in her mind and sent her flying backwards and out of the building. When she opened her eyes, she was sitting on the floor. The house had collapsed, and nothing remained of it.

Evalle knew she was powerful, but didn't know she was as powerful as such. Destroying a portal that led to another world. She was sure that was the only portal of that kind that existed.

  EPILOGUE

Emily chuckled. The story they had told her was funny. She couldn't remember what had happened in the last three years of her life. She felt bad, but glad that she had a sister that could be of help. They were gathered, not in the sorcerers' village, but in the main world, where everyone existed. The powerless had even come to ask them for help. Everyone learned to love.

The meeting was six months after ended battle. Natalie was cradled in Jasper's arms. She was carrying his baby. They had always talked about what he or she, would be, considering the combination of their powers. It was no surprise too that Emily was pregnant. Panthera and Grimace we're lovers. Death wish and Grain seeker were married.

Justin couldn't be more grateful to his wife. He hugged her belly, they laughed. Everything had been an avenue for creating a larger family. One that would spread round the world.

  * * *

Evalle laughed silently. They were all getting to look old, yet she was the same, still cute and sexy, still looking twenty-eight when she was actually sixty-nine. They had asked for her secrets. The only excuse she thought believing, was her powers. She used them to tell the lie. Even though she knew Emily could not be easily fooled, it was still cool being a vampire. And she was eventually going to leave them to seek for a better life in another part of the world.
